Frequently Asked Questions

1. How much does tutoring cost?

Tutoring services can vary depending on the type of services your student needs  –  because of this we do not list our prices online. Please call or email us for more information on our pricing structure.  Please see our ACT Test Prep page for more  information on ACT/SAT only tutoring.

2. What if I can’t afford your services?

We try hard to accommodate every family situation, and may be able to offer financial assistance if you are unable to pay our standard rate.  Please contact us by phone or email to inquire about financial assistance.  We may request additional information on your family financial situation to secure aid (some outside scholarship sources require this).

3. Where do you meet to tutor?

We prefer to meet in our office or public spaces.  For example, we often meet at the Teton County Library, and have met students in other community spaces. However, if you prefer that we tutor in your home we can do our best to make special accommodations, provided that another adult is present during the tutoring session.

4. How do you communicate with my student’s teachers or other professionals I suggest?

In order for us to be permitted to communicate or receive information regarding your student’s academic needs and progress with 3rd parties, such as a teacher or counselor, we require that you sign a release allowing for this.  We provide the release.  We will only communicate with 3rd parties that you specify. All information we obtain we will share with you.  All information is private and secure.

5. What if my child has special education needs?

We have experience working with Special Education Needs students.  Some of tutors are specially trained to work with identified learning differences, such as dyslexia.  In addition, we work with the student’s school staff and other outside professionals – with your explicit permission – to tailor our tutoring to meet the needs.

6. Do I have to sign a long-term contract?

There is no obligation to sign a long term contract for tutoring – we tutor to your needs!  We WILL communicate frequently with the parent/guardian to let them know your child’s progress, or mastery, of the subject being tutored, and whether we recommend for/against additional outside help.

7. Do you bill me by the hour?

If my child is tutored for an hour and a half am I billed for a full two hours?  A minimum of 1 hour is charged for each tutoring session. After the 1st hour, the Student is charged for every additional 15 minutes of tutoring, per individual session.

8. How do I pay Jackson Hole Tutoring?  Do you accept Credit Cards? Can I pay you by check? Must I pay you after each tutoring session?

You do not need to pay us after every session if you plan on scheduling frequent sessions; we can offer monthly billing provided that you pay your invoices by the scheduled due date. Otherwise we ask that you pay us after each session.  We accept Visa, MasterCard, AmEx and Discover; our CC servicer requires that you have a U.S. or Canadian billing address if using a credit card.  We also accept eChecks and personal checks at the time of service, or to pay an invoiced bill.

9. Do you offer refunds?

We do not offer refunds for billed services.

10. Cancellations: What if I need to CANCEL my child’s scheduled tutoring session?  Is there still a charge?

Because our Tutors typically schedule their students more than 48 hours in advance, a missed or cancelled appointment by the Client is a lost opportunity for us to schedule another student during the same time period. Therefore, we charge a full hour for canceled appointments, unless we can find another student to schedule during your child’s missed time slot.  To avoid any cancellation/missed appointment penalties, the Client must cancel within 48 hours of the scheduled appointment. Your notification to us MUST be confirmed by Jackson Hole Tutoring by email, phone call or text. Again, this charge may be waived if the Tutor is able to schedule an alternate tutoring session (with another student) during the scheduled time. The charge may be waived by Jackson Hole Tutoring for emergencies or due to severe weather (i. e. snowstorm) and/or an “Act of God”.

11. Cancellations: What if the Tutor cancels a scheduled appointment with my child?

The Tutor may cancel a scheduled session with the Student due to unforeseen circumstances, such as illness or accident.   JHT will make every effort to give the Student at least 24 hours’ notice of a cancellation, and no cancellation fees will be applied in this event.

12. Do you ever share any of my personal information with other people, organizations, schools or other third parties?

We respect your privacy. Therefore we never share with or sell your personal information to any third parties. Any information collected through this site is intended to be used for this transaction only.  Your personal information is secured via SSL (Secure Socket Layer) Technology.
